FLIGHT-DAY PLANNING

When should you leave your hotel for Cancun Airport?

Your departure time should be based on your exact hotel, flight and possible road delays—not a generic one-hour rule.

A practical three-step calculation

01

Check the departure time

Confirm the scheduled flight departure, airline instructions and departure terminal.

02

Set airport arrival

For international travel, a common recommendation is to arrive around three hours early. Check whether your airline asks for more.

03

Add road time and buffer

Allow the full drive from your actual hotel, including access roads and a buffer for Highway 307 traffic.

Example: Tulum flight at 3:00 PM

Target arrival at CUN: 12:00 PM. With an illustrative two-hour drive and 30 minutes of extra road buffer, you might leave your hotel at 9:30 AM. Tulum beach-road accommodation can require more time.

Illustrative guidance only. It is not a live-traffic estimate or guaranteed pickup time. Confirm the exact route and airline requirements.

Before leaving your accommodation

Confirm the correct entrance

Large resorts, gated properties and Tulum's beach hotels may have multiple meeting points.

Prepare for Highway 307

Traffic, roadworks or accidents can delay journeys along the Riviera Maya. Practical detours may be limited.

Allow time at the airport

Airport check-in, security, baggage and queues are separate from your road transfer.
